Moon Phases
The eight faces of the lunar cycle and how to work with each one.
New Moon
The Moon sits between Earth and the Sun and its lit side faces away from us. A dark sky, and in many traditions the start of a new cycle.
Waxing Crescent
A thin sliver appears in the western sky after sunset, growing a little each night. The intention is set; now it needs its first steps.
First Quarter
Exactly half the Moon is lit. The first test of the cycle: obstacles show up and decisions need making.
Waxing Gibbous
More than half lit and swelling toward full. A time to refine, edit and trust the process before the peak.
Full Moon
The whole face of the Moon is lit and it rises as the Sun sets. A peak of light, emotion and clarity, and a natural moment to let go.
Waning Gibbous
Just past full, the light begins to shrink. A time to share what you have learned and give thanks.
Last Quarter
Half lit again, the other half this time. A turning point for clearing out, forgiving and breaking habits that no longer serve.
Waning Crescent
A fading sliver in the pre-dawn sky. The quiet end of the cycle: rest, reflect, and get ready to begin again.
